The owners asked for a backyard that could juggle family dinners, quiet sauna sessions, and low-maintenance gardening while still feeling immersive and natural. We re-graded the narrow slope into a linear sequence: a sculptural boulder creek and lavender bands form the backdrop, a stepping-stone lawn path links a cedar pergola dining deck to a fire-bowl lounge, and a cylindrical sauna nestles beneath layered evergreens for privacy. Decorative metal privacy screens, string lights, and a patio heater extend evening use, while raised planters built into the pergola rail keep herbs and veggies within arm’s reach of the grill. Basalt column fountains, low-voltage path lights, and drought-tough conifers supply movement and season-long texture, pulling the wood-and-stone palette into one cohesive, four-season retreat.
