Stillwater Retreat

Design Objectives

The homeowners envisioned a refined yet inviting waterfront retreat that blurs the line between indoors and out, offers distinct zones for year-round lounging and entertaining, and frames uninterrupted views of the water while maintaining privacy and flow. To realize that vision, we terraced the site with clean architectural hardscaping—floating concrete pavers, board-formed retaining walls, and a sculptural steel staircase—linking the main residence to a cedar-slatted pergola, sun-shelf pool and spa, and a recessed fireside courtyard. Generous lawn panels and layered plantings soften the geometry, while evergreen hedging, custom metal screens, and low garden walls create subtle enclosure without blocking sightlines. Integrated lighting, infrared heaters, and all-season furnishings extend usability into evening and shoulder seasons, and the dock-facing promenade ensures a seamless transition from landscaped garden to the water’s edge.
